LabAnalyst has six menus, plus on-line instructions in the "Help" menu (OS 8 and above), "Special" menu (OS X), or the Apple menu (earlier operating systems).

FILE  EDIT  ANALYZE  VIEW  CHANNELS  SCRIPTS  HELP / SPECIAL

The CHANNELS menu is found only in LabAnalyst FP. It is absent in LabAnalyst X (OS X version) and in 'plain' LabAnalyst (68K version).  In X and 'plain', use the small pop-up menu in the upper right of the plot area.  Otherwise, the methods of channel selection are the same.

The CHANNELS menu is one of three ways to select the 'active' channel from a list of available channels.  The items in the CHANNELS menu are updated whenever you alter the current channel labels (by loading a new file, editing a channel label, creating or removing a channel, etc.).

Note that if the file contains only 1 channel, this menu is inactive.

The effect of selecting a new active channel depends on whether you are in single- or multiple-channel display mode.  In single-channel mode, the new active channel replaces the old one in the plot area, and the active channel indicator at the upper left of the plot area is updated.  In multiple-channel mode, only the active channel indicator is changed.

Other methods for channel selection:

In FP and X versions, an easy way to do a simple overlay plot (one channel only, no options for dashed lines or subsequent plotting) is to hold down the command key while picking the desired overlay channel from the CHANNELS menu.
