Insert markers

This option lets you insert markers (single numbers or letters) into a data file by clicking at the spot where you want the new marker to be located.

• Marker insertion only works in 'one screenful' mode, so if you are in 'entire file' mode or have zoomed to a subset of the file, the plot window will be redrawn into 'one screenful' mode.   This makes sure you can put the marker on a specific case (refer to the yellow data bar for cursor position).   You can shift between locations in the data file in the normal way, by using the slider below the plot area, or with the left and right arrow keys.
Note that it is possible to shift back into 'entire file' mode and insert a marker,
but it will not be correctly located in the file.

• You can use any numeric character (0 - 9) or letter as a marker.   However, keep in mind that some markers serve specific purposes -- for example, LabAnalyst uses the double right arrows and double left arrows (» « ) to indicate the start and end of interpolation zones, and a user-set option in the ANALYSIS menu (Analysis Utilities) lets you exclude interpolated data from calculations.

• You can select some commonly-used markers by clicking the buttons on the small boxed panel.
